Santander, capital city of Cantabria

Cantabria is a region in  northen  Spain, on the cantabric sea , with its bordering regions : Asturias ( west ), Castilla and  León (south), with León, Burgos and Palencia , and the Basque region ( east ) with Vizcaya. It covers an area of 5.289 km2 , from the Cantabrian Mountains down to the Bay of Biscay.

How to reach Santander

By plane:

• Santander Airport (www.aena.es). At 5km from the center. Shuttle bus (ww.santandereabus.com)
• Bilbao Airport (www.aena.es). It takes one hour by car or bus (www.alsa.es)
• Iberia offers some discounts for UIMP students.

 

 

By train:

• Santander-Madrid   takes 4 h30. (www.renfe.es).
• From Asturias and Basque Region,   FEVE trains (www.feve.es).
• There are public buses from the Train Station to the Las Llamas Campus.

 

By  boat:

• Ferry from Plymouth and Portsmouth to Santander (www.brittanyferries.es)

 

By car:

• Take the A-8 from the French boarder or from Asturias
• Take the A-1 from Madrid

 

By bus:

• Connections from all over Spain (www.santandereabus.com)
